Lumion · Keeping the power on
Every military base runs on one promise: that the power stays ON.
Lumion solves energy shortages where the grid cannot reach or cannot be trusted, from military forward bases to Europe's congested industrial sites. One modular, containerised unit that combines storage, fuel-cell and generator technology, cuts or eliminates diesel use, and keeps reliable energy flowing to the forces, industries and infrastructure that depend on it.
The problem
But on the frontline, that promise still runs on diesel. And the diesel arrives by convoy.
Everything on a modern base is electric. The way it is powered has not changed in fifty years. Armies do not have fifty years. They have this winter.
One soldier or contractor killed or wounded because of fuel convoys in Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of that fuel fed generators.
US Army Environmental Policy Institute, 2009Of the fuel used generating electricity for headquarters goes to waste.
British Army, Approach to Battlefield ElectrificationTypical load of a forward-base generator, burning fuel around the clock.
PNNL, US ArmyOf diesel a year for an average base. Fuel costs three to five times its pump price by the time it reaches the frontline.
Lumion estimate on British Army and US Army fully burdened cost figuresThe unit
We built one modular energy unit. Lumion Field. Half the diesel. And the power stays ON.
One twenty-foot container. Battery storage, a low-temperature fuel cell and a generator that runs on the diesel the army already has, run by Lumion's own energy management. Truck it in and it is running today.
One 20-foot container
- Solar, when it is there
- The grid, when it is there
Sodium-ion storage
200 to 600 kWh. No lithium. Covers the peaks and the quiet hours.
Fuel cell
Low-temperature and quiet: not visible on a thermal camera.
Generator
Runs on the NATO F-34 diesel the army already has.
Lumion energy management
Decides second by second which source runs, and logs every litre saved.
- Camp loads and cooling
- Drones and vehicles
- Command, comms, medical
Signature
Invisible to a thermal camera.
A diesel generator runs hot and loud. A fuel cell runs at 40 to 60 degrees. On a thermal camera, a running generator glows. A fuel cell does not.
Who it is for · dual use
For those who protect and build a brighter future.
Defence first
Forward bases and barracks
In the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, across NATO and in Ukraine. Half the diesel and half the resupply on a base that burns hundreds of thousands of euros of fuel a year.
Then those who build
Grid-constrained industry and data centres
The factories and hospitals that wait years for a grid connection, and the data centres that cannot get one. The same unit, trucked in, running while the grid catches up.
Why us
We build one modular unit. Open to every new technology.
New technology slots in. The unit stays.
Modular
Sodium-ion today. Whatever wins tomorrow.
Fuel-flexible
Diesel today. Methanol or hydrogen next.
European supply chain
Designed, built and owned in Europe.
Where the unit is today
Technology readiness level, 1 to 9
a month
The existing line can build one today. Our seed round takes it to batch production with a European integrator.
Team
Two generations, one obsession.

Seed round · opens November 2026
From November, we put the first Lumion units in the field.
The seed round funds the first units, trials with defence and one industrial site, certification, and batch production with a European integrator. If you back, buy, build or deploy energy for those who protect and those who build, talk to us.
Because tonight, somewhere on Europe's eastern flank, a base is waiting for a convoy that should never have had to leave.
Keeping the power ON.
For those building and protecting a brighter future.
Because freedom is the responsibility of us all.
